Comanche, Texas is located in Comanche County among some of the most beautiful countryside in Central Texas. Named for the Comanche Indians, the area has over forty historical markers in the county and fifteen within the city proper. The city has the oldest original existing Texas courthouse, a county museum and the famous Fleming Oak.
With its varied wildlife in the outlying areas and antique stores in town Comanche is a haven for hunters and shoppers alike.
Every year during the third weekend of July, the Open Rodeo is held, and the fourth weekend of September hosts the "Comanche County Pow-Wow". Visitors will find arts and crafts, a cook-off, bands, dances and other varied entertainment.
Both Comanche and it's close neighbor, De Leon, enjoy a close proximity to Lake Proctor. The lake offers many recreational activities, among them swimming, boating, fishing, camping and hunting.
Not only is Comanche adorned with wildlife and beautiful countrysides, it has a "small town" quality of life that you can trust to fulfill your dreams of raising a family or enjoying the golden years.
